Our story

Built by players.
Designed for coaches.

A Danish company born out of a lifetime in sport — and a genuine frustration with how tactics had always been taught.

The founders

Two lifelong sports professionals. One shared vision.

Danny Jung
Danny Jung
Co-founder & CEO

Danny spent a lifetime inside professional football, experiencing firsthand how the gap between what a coach explains and what a player understands can cost a team dearly. That frustration became the seed for Tabula1 — a tool that makes the invisible, visible.

Ulrik Lynge
Ulrik Lynge
Co-founder

Ulrik brought the same depth of experience from within team sports, having witnessed countless tactical briefings where players left the room with very different interpretations. Together with Danny, he channelled that into a product built on science, not habit.

The idea
Tactics have always been drawn on whiteboards and explained in words. We believed players deserved something they could touch.

Throughout a lifetime in sport, Danny and Ulrik experienced the many changes to both the game itself and the framework around it. From the dressing room to the dugout, they watched coaches struggle to translate complex tactical ideas into something players could immediately understand and act on.

The breakthrough was simple: if you bring the pitch into the room — at exactly the right scale — the conversation changes entirely. Players lean in. They point, they move pieces, they ask questions. The distance between theory and execution collapses.

Tabula1 was founded in Denmark in 2019. Today it is used by clubs and national teams across 15+ countries — from the Premier League to grassroots clubs finding a better way to coach.

The science

Grounded in situated learning.

Tabula1 is built on the principles of situated learning — a research-backed approach where learning happens in context, close to where the skill is actually used. Rather than absorbing tactics in a classroom and trying to recall them on a pitch, players learn directly in the context of match situations.

This enables active participation, social involvement, and experimentation. Players go directly from game action to joint adjustment — right where the situation is then subsequently practiced again. Game-based learning, of which this is a core part, has been shown to produce a 25–30% improvement in learning outcomes.
